The fact is waxing, shaving and tweezing all have the potential to encourage ingrown hair. Ingrown hair occurs when the hair grows back into the skin instead of rising up from the follicle. This can lead to discomfort, inflammation, and even scarring. If you've experienced the discomfort of ingrown hair, then it's time to look at your options.

There are two methods of hair removal that prevent ingrown hair, laser hair removal and electrolysis.

Both methods work by physically destroying the hair root and removing it's ability to regenerate new hair.

LASER Hair Removal is great for large areas in particular. It's fast, effective and generally very comfortable. Results are achievable with as few as 3 or 4 treatments, although additional sessions (4 -10) may be necessary for optimal results. It's important to note that laser hair removal may not be effective for individuals with white, grey, or blonde hair, as the laser targets the pigment in the hair follicle.

ELECTROLYSIS while permanent, only treats each hair individually and so is very time consuming. It also tends to be painful. We recommend electrolysis only for those clients that have white/gray or light blonde hair.

WHY AM I EXPERIENCING INGROWN HAIR?

Waxing and tweezing pull the hair out from the root. When the root regenerates and begins to grow new hair, any blockage such as dead skin cells can force the hair to continue growing under the skin. Bacteria and inflammation follow, and if you've picked and worked at bringing the hair to the surface you may even cause visible scaring. Shaving also poses a risk of ingrown hair, as it cuts the hair close to the skin, leaving a sharp end that may grow into the side of the follicle.

While laser hair removal is the recommended option for preventing ingrown hair, there are other measure you can take. Exfoliation is one such method that can be helpful in reducing ingrown hair. By regularly (gently) exfoliating the skin, you can remove dead skin cells and reduct the chances of hair follicle blockage. Ask about our line of at home peels which are helpful in keeping hair follicles clear to minimize ingrown growth.

If you're tired of dealing with ingrown hair and seeking a permanent, fast, and effective solution, it's time to consider laser hair removal.
